We'll miss you!

Hannah and her parents are leaving for New Zealand for a few months. We will miss them very much. We're counting the days 'til you come back!

Warranty

When you buy a new appliance or one of yours breaks down you often may wonder about getting a warranty on it. Let me tell you they are so worth it! About a year ago our dryer broke down. When they fixed it we decided to spend the extra money and get a warranty on it. We didn't really need it but figured it wouldn't hurt to have. So when the dryer broke the end of June we didn't have to pay anything for the repairs or labor. Sears has come out five times and have spent over $1200 on parts alone. And how much did we have to pay? Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. So the next time you debate over getting a warranty, think about the headache it will be to fix it. Spending that extra $120 on the warranty has definitely paid off for us, even if we still don't have a working dryer.

Hot

While cooking griddle cakes (fluffier than pancakes) one morning William got too close to the pan. He knows the word hot yet for some reason reached out and grabbed the side of the griddle and got burned. He didn't cry much and almost seemed proud to show off his new "ouchie".

Olympics

As 8.8.08 approached I eagerly awaited the start of the Olympic games. I was interested to see how China would do or more precisely what they would do. China has always been about image and making the nation look good. Well during the Opening Ceremonies Eric pointed something out that didn't look right. Lin Hao, the little boy who survived the earthquake at his school and then rescued his other classmates looked so cute standing next to Yao Min. But something was amiss. The China flag has the stars on the left top corner. But if you look at the picture Lin Hao's flag is upside down! It was like this the whole time! Apparently no Chinese worker noticed it but Eric did and once he pointed it out to me I couldn't take my eyes of it. China has put on a good show despite some mistakes (the upside down flag, the nine year old girl who lip synched, the fake fireworks, the underage gymnasts, the no show rower) but it has been and will remain a memorable seventeen days.

Ole to the Boob Tube

You were old. No one remembers when we bought you. You came into our home for a time.

When we moved across the sea, you came with us. You served us here tho' your numbers were off and your picture was dark.

We learned to deal with your many buttons and knobs. Tho' we didn't like it as there were so many involved. Then one day something happened. We often wondered if it would. You stopped working. You're light went out, then your sound. And oh... what joy!

We moved you from your spot up high to a place down low. When the moving was finally done we were glad to see you gone.

And were even doubly glad to see your replacement settle in! It is bright and shiny and loud and clear. We will treasure this new one and look forward to all the new things it will show us.

Fun at Cabelas

"Did you see animals? No. Did you see the fish? No. Did you shoot the gun? No. What did you see? Airplane!" The only thing William remembered seeing and doing was the yellow airplane that hung in the air.
