Day... whatever
Ok so I've decided to nix this whole picture a day thing. I'm going through batteries like crazy and I'm thinking this is a bit over kill. But it was fun while it lasted. It has taught me to look for the simple things that happen in our lives. And that we need a new camera. I know what I want for Christmas!
The following pictures are taken with WILLIAM'S camera! My mom bought him a Vtech camera for his birthday and he loves it! It has been interesting to see what he captures. After looking through his pictures (he's taken over 300 since Thursday- today being Friday) he likes to take pictures of the TV and whatever show is on. He says it's "easier to take those kind of pictures because I like them." At least we're not developing film. Anyone remember those days? I remember developing my own black and white film...
... Anyway to give Eric some peace and quiet we went for a walk after an early dinner yesterday. It was nippy outside so the boys bundled up. These beanies were made last year by Eric's mom. Oh and if you look close you'll see a goose egg on Samuel's head. He had a run in with a window sill while playing at a friends' house.
We walked to the football field and arrived there just as practice was over. The boys watched all the players leave and were in awe of them. William was surprised that there were so many. "They just kept coming and coming (out of the gates)." We watched some of the kickers practice. At first they were mesmerized but then William said "I wish they would leave so we can play already!" Once they were done we played. The lights were left on and we got some good pics with William's camera.

Day ten, eleven and twelve
I was thinking that posting 31 times in ONE month is a bit over kill. So I'm trying to pick and choose which pics to share. I'll still be taking on picture a day but I will probably combine days/ events. I'm still fiddling with this so bare with me.
Day Ten
Yes this is my first "staged" picture. We were getting ready for bed and I realized that I hadn't taken a picture so I laid the boys down and clicked away.
Day Eleven
While changing Matthew's diaper/pullup he started laughing. I don't know what he thought was so funny but he was doing a full belly laugh. Which just made me laugh right along with him.
Day Twelve
We celebrated William's fifth birthday on the 12th. We had preschool at our place and during play time had chocolate cupcakes with filling. (Fun da-middles is what it was called) Basically they come out like a Hostess cupcake, one of William's favorites. We ate outside and had a few other neighbor friends join us. That night William got to pick what we were having for dinner. We could stay in and make him whatever he wanted or go out to eat. After much debating and considering he selected Denny's. He wanted their softball pancakes, which are just a single pancake with strawberry surup for the ball design, along with a sausage and bacon strip. He also was allowed a chocolate milk. The other two boys got their own meals and Eric and I got ours. William's meal was for free since we told him it was his birthday. We were all stuffed, though William "said" he could eat more especially if it was a slice of chocolate cake. But we passed and headed home. I also mentioned to him earlier in the day that we might go see the airplanes on the way back. Well on the way to the restaurant we saw 2 take off and 3 land. He loved it!

Other things he's been up to:
-We're working on night potty training him. We bought him Lego Star Wars underwear that be gets to wear if he doesn't pee in him pullup at night. So far this week he's only peed once in his pullup. We're doing good.
- We're about 95% done with thumb sucking. The last week we've caught him a few times. We thought we were done but apparently his slipping.
-He loves preschool! He loves learning and hanging out with his new friends. He is always so excited to go and is sad that it's not everyday.
-He's a big helper and looks after his brothers. Still a picky eater though has no problem packing in breakfast type food. He can eat 2 and a half waffles! He enjoys helping me organize his toys and clothes. He's a great kid and we love him very much!

Day nine
Once we got everything unpacked and dinner done we broke out one of William's presents. He got the Star Wars Trouble game from the Brignones. We sat down as a family and played. I think the boys had more fun listening to the sound R2 made each time they pushed the bubble more than the game itself.

Day seven and eight
Day Seven
I blame the craziness of packing and getting things ready to go for the lack of taking a better picture. But before arriving and getting into more craziness I took a moment to capture something that makes us laugh.

My sister in law gave me these fuzzy socks for Christmas last year. Eric thinks they're funny. I love them! I only wear them at home, usually at night. Normally I hate socks but there's something about warm, fuzzy feet in the winter that I love. On our ride to Grandma and Papa's house this weekend I broke them out to get more comfy in the car. Eric just rolled his eyes and laughed.
Day Eight
Our main reason for this trip was to see Papa who was home for the weekend. Pete and his family were also there. In total there were 10 kids ranging from 10 to 16 months. And all but one of them are boys!
The other reason for making the trip was to celebrate William's birthday with his cousins. He requested a chocolate and vanilla cake and a Dawn of the Dinosaurs themed cake/party. We settled for having dinosaurs on the cake which grandma and Dee made. He had a blast having his "bestest cousins" there. We'll have a much smaller celebration as a family on his actual birthday later this week.
Matthew took this hat from Eldon and wouldn't give it back. Grandma taught me to crochet and so I'm hoping to make Matthew a hat that he can wear this winter, without getting laughed at when he wears it :)
The kids all piled into the hot tub while we were there. William enjoyed it, even standing the the middle and almost putting his face under except for the fact Dee forgot to mention that he should close his mouth :) Matthew is "H2O challenged" but Dee coaxed him into sitting in the tub. At first it was just on the edge with his feet in but eventually he sat inside up to his waist.
Samuel is our water baby. He wanted in though I didn't think he was big enough to join the kids. He sat on the side with grandma, held on to the older kids for a back ride, and just splashed around. He was the second to last one out and cried when taken out. We had a fun weekend.

Day Five
Nap time...
... is not happening as regularly as usual. At most the boys sleep for an hour. William has gotten use to not taking a nap which has made getting him to sleep at night easier (he use to stay up to 930-10pm now passes out at 8). Matthew still naps well. Samuel sometimes takes a morning nap but even when he doesn't he only sleeps for 30 minutes.
They look cute and innocent when they're sleeping.

Day Three but should be Four
So I just remembered that I started this pic-a-day on the second of the month. To keep things simple this is day four and there are two pics on day one post.
Now that that's taken care of here's today's picture.
Tuesday mornings are Matthew's speech day. Susan comes down once a week from Green Bluffs to work one on one with Matthew. At the end of today's assessment she told me that Matthew drops the final sound of each word. For example hat is ha. Duh we should have noticed this! It makes so much sense. She said it's an easy fix since he does that with every word. Now we'll work on enunciating ending sounds and getting him to repeat it.
Matthew enjoys his one on one time with his "teacher". He sits really good for a two year old, last week sitting still for 15 mins while she had him repeat certain words. We look forward to seeing the progress he'll make and being able to better understand him.

Day Two
On laundry days I have to get up early so I can get it done before Eric leaves for school. This requires getting up around 630 am so as to be done before 830 around the time Eric leaves. This morning I went back inside for the camera. I'm glad I did. Nice way to start the day, even if it was early. Oh the things we do for clean clothes!

Picture a day- Day one
In effort to capture the day to day things that happen in our lives, I've decided to take at least one picture a day for this month. I won't be posting all of them but I'm hoping this will help me remember what we do daily and not just the special occasions. Yes I'm a day late in starting so there will be two for today.
The first one is of our trip back to Fish Lake. We fished off the dock. The boys had their snacks and I walked up and down the pathways with the younger two while Eric and William baited and waited. On our way back I noticed Eric was moving the pole more than usual and sure enough he said they caught one. He was a little disappointed that the fish didn't put up a fight and it swallowed the bait/hook right after they dropped it in the water. Now we'd been fishing for at least 30 minutes before they caught it so I was just glad they caught something. Eric wanted a more playing- hard- to- get- experience. Anyway William was happy to get one, Matthew wanted nothing to do with the fish, and Samuel just wanted to dig into the snack bag. Once Eric got the hook out we did let the fish go. William was upset by the fact that the fish was bleeding and that we hurt it. He said next time we should keep it and someone should eat it.
