The start of summer

With spring term finally over we are just starting our summer break. We have lots of things we want to get done and things that we are looking forward to doing. Last night I was thinking about what I wanted to accomplish today. The top two things were to grade my students' final and vacuum the house. Not too exciting but need to get done. However I was looking forward to sleeping in a bit especially considering that William wouldn't go to sleep until 10pm. William had a different agenda. After kicking me in the jaw last night and constantly tossing and turning he was all bright eyed at 6am. Once up, he proceeded to wake us up with "wake up mommy, wake up daddy." The next phrase was a surprise, "beach mommy." Beach?! Who put that idea into your head? Luckily I am a morning person (more so on some days than others) and I got up and let Eric sleep. Now I was under the impression that William would have breakfast and run around first before wanting to go the beach... but no. I could barely change his diaper before he kept insisting that we had to go to the beach. Still half awake I packed a bag, got snacks and left with William and headed to the beach. Now I didn't know this but the park service doesn't open the gates until 7am. Luckily it took me some time to grab all the stuff we might need so we didn't have to wait long, in fact I just drove to the next beach down to avoid waiting with an anxious 20 month old. Anyway to make a long story short we spent an hour at the beach, came home and had breakfast and I even have vacuumed the house! And it's only 9am! Now to take a morning nap. Happy summer!

I wish I could wake up in the morning and just walk out my door to go to the beach!
P.S. You'll always be 'Hsu' to me. There are too many Jessica's and only one Hsu :)
