For the last several weeks we have been hosts to three different groups of visitors from China (hence the lack of posts). The groups came from various schools to experience American culture first hand. We learned many things from each of our groups and miss each of them. We only hosted two to three people at a time and they were only around for breakfast and occasionally dinner. Most of their day was filled with American language and culture instruction and sightseeing. William has thoroughly enjoyed having other people around to impress and play with. He even picked up several Chinese words and phrases during their stay.
Emily, Madame Wang, Will, Me, Anita
Diane, William, Vicky
We asked each group what they will remember most about their stay in Hawaii. All of them said the best part was playing and being around William! One time, Emily from our first group, called home to tell her parents how things were going. She told them about William and how smart he was and how much she enjoyed playing with him. Her mother asked her if she enjoyed going to the beach and seeing the sights of Hawaii. Her reply was "not as much as I like playing with William." Each night when the girls came home we asked them about their day. They would give us a recap then instead of getting ready for bed would play with William, as if their day was incomplete if they didn't.
We're happy to have this chance to meet each of these women. We hope they enjoyed the sights and experiences of Hawaii as much as they enjoyed being with William. Maybe we should put him on the top ten things to see while visiting Hawaii!
The last group left two weeks ago. William still asks "where's girls?" He walks into the room they were in and looks around for them. The other morning while taking lunch to Eric he even asked, "we go to pick up girls from school?"
