Since the new place is still full of boxes I thought a few pics of the boys and a description of what we did today might hold certain people over.
Today was our first Saturday in Cheney and we drove to Tyler which is eight miles away. I saw on Craigslist that they were holding at Firefighter breakfast and flea market. I did a quick browse through the stuff while Eric and the two older boys checked out the fire trucks. They enjoyed it. The Deputy Chief showed them the gear and equipment. They even got to use the hose though William needed help since the pressure kept pushing him back. I didn't see any of this but we were told we could call and schedule a time to take a tour of the fire station in Cheney. We will have to make a point of doing that.
Once they were done we ate breakfast made and served by the firemen. We got two pancakes, eggs, and two sausages patties along with juice for $6. We got two plates since the boys love pancakes. The money went to the fire department so I was happy to support them.
We walked around slowly looking at the stuff for sale. On my first pass by myself I snagged this Thomas the train backpack for Matthew. It still has the tag on it which listed the price as $12.99. When I asked how much it was the lady told me $2 but that was negotiable. I'm thinking it's a steal for $2 being brand new! On our second pass I got some used Star Wars shirts for William. Oh have I mentioned that Matthew now likes Star Wars and can even somewhat say it? I told Samuel he has to be a Trekkie with me or I'm done for. Anyway back to the shopping. There was some other things that had potential but we were on the hunt for things we could use now and not later.
Before we even left our parking lot there was a lady selling things since she was moving. I got some baking dishes, a night stand, and some blue plastic drawers for the boys for a total of $15. When we came back from the firefighter sale we picked up our stuff. Sadly I found out she had more for sale inside her apartment that I didn't see, ie things we are looking for like a dining table and food storage but it was all sold by the time we got back. Oh well. We also found our that she's a member and she gave us the ward and time that we meet.
Once we hauled all our loot in we piled back in the van and drove up to Spokane and headed for Target. (We made a trip to Walmart in Spokane the previous day but didn't find everything we were looking for.) It was fun to drive through town and see the different stores. There are a few Asian markets that Eric and I want to hit up once things settle down. By the time we were done at Target we were shopped out. Not that we were there long but cause we were tired of looking for things we need. Back at home we put everything away and called it a day even though it was only 1pm. But its never dull with boys in the house... scroll down to keep reading.
Doesn't Matthew look so grown up with his new backpack?
After bath time I was trimming William and Matthew's nails. Samuel was crawling around in the hall when we heard a 'thunk' Apprently he was trying to stand up to walk, which he does all the time, and slipped and hit his head on the corner of the door frame to the bathroom. He cried til he was picked up, then I noticed his head. I showed him to Eric and we were both like ouch.It was quite the goose egg. It formed almost instantly. We put a variety of oils on and it went down. But still it looked bad.
Well that was our day. The boys are down for the night and I need to unpack our church clothes. If you made it to the end of this long winded post... wow! Thanks for reading. If you just skimmed... no worries. I'm long winded and I know it. I blame it on my high school days in Hong Kong when I had to write long papers my longest being 72 pages, single spaced, in size 8 font. Yeah I don't know how to keep things concise. See I'm still going! Ok now hitting the post button.
