*Potty talk post*
Matthew has been working hard (and so have his parents) on potty training. With Eric home for the summer I thought it would be a good time to have Matthew learn to use the toilet. The first week we had to take him every hour or so. I printed out this chart that marks how far the train has to go. We gave Matthew a sticker every time he went pee in the toilet. (Sometimes we forgot but that's ok). We also gave him knights for every pee and horses for every poop. Thankfully my mom sent us more knights so we were well stocked. He learned to peed in the toilet very well. Going number two was harder for him. He wouldn't poop for like two days then would complain that his tummy hurt. We had to convince him to stay on the toilet and fart. He would say he didn't want to but in the end he would clear his system.
Now a month later he's doing so good! He still complains that his tummy hurts (from holding it in) but he knows to tell us and to head to the bathroom. I put up another chart on the bathroom door but he doesn't always ask for a sticker. We also ran out of knights and horses at the start of the third week but he didn't seem to mind. We still put Matthew in a pull up at night and sometimes at nap time, though the past few days he's woken up dry. We are so proud of Matthew and hope he continues to use the potty like a "big boy."
Other notes:
-bought Ninjago underwear for him. He wears the same size as William size 6!
-at first when he would fart in the toilet we would give him a M&M. Now he just laughs and says "me fartie."
-when he does poop and it's smelly he sits there and laughs the whole time and tells us "big poopy, big smelly"
-we tried to use the potty ring but soon saw that he was too big for that so we just set him on the toilet. So far he hasn't fallen in.
