Father's Day and Strawberry picking

For Father's Day Eric wanted a pineapple upside down cake. I'm not a fan of pineapple but that meant there was more for Eric and the boys. Right after we got home from church, Eric sampled the cake and proclaimed it good enough for only dads to eat.
At church, the fathers were given neon green crowns with candy bars on them. Eric's had Big Hunk on it. He was such a great sport and wore it for the rest of the meetings.

The end of June we went up to Green Bluffs to pick strawberries. The field that we went to had only been open for three days so there was plenty to pick from. It was the perfect morning, not too hot and overcast.

Once Samuel got a taste he kept asking Eric if he could "have a bite?" He'd pick one and ask, get an answer, pick another one and ask again.

About half way through picking, Matthew was more interested in the tractor ride that we would take back to the main building/parking area and kept a look out for our ride. I think that was the highlight of his day. He wanted to ride it back up to the patch!

In the end we got two boxes, each weighing 5.5 pounds, totaling about $12 worth. Interestingly we picked the exact same amount. It was fun and the boys enjoyed it. We only stayed out for about thirty minutes but we had a great time.

When we came home and started washing everything, I realized that we got quite a bit of strawberries. The good/bad thing was that they were all ripe and so had to be eaten soon. We ended up freezing two gallon size bags and eating the rest over the next two days. They were sure good!
