Adjusting to the mainland

We have been here about a month and have gone through some adjustments to our life on the mainland. Some are good, others have taken us time to get use to. (I'm not going into the living arrangements and the complexities of having eight kids nine and under in one house with one shower.) These are just some of the first things that come to mind during our first month here, and in no particular order.

Washington vs Hawaii

Washington $6 for a BOX of apples Hawaii $4.99/pound
Washington cold rain and gray skies Hawaii warm rain with a cloudless sky
Washington cheap(er) gas $2.89 Hawaii $3.30
Washington shopping closer by Hawaii nearest town 45 minutes away
Washington chapped lips and dry skin Hawaii no need for lotion or chap stick
Washington cold nights and need blankets Hawaii just need a sheet
Washington 4 bags of bagels for $5! Hawaii one bag was $3.99
Washington static electricity Hawaii what's that?
Washington still light at 9 pm! Hawaii gets dark at 6:30!

While we are still adjusting, we are grateful to be on the mainland and are making lots of memories. We are grateful for Eric's family for opening their home to us and are enjoying our time with them.
