One Special Boy

Part two of our 2 'n' 1 party

Our youngest child is now one! Wow! Samuel has grown so much this past year. He has his own little personality and is not afraid to tell his brothers that he doesn't want/like something. Matthew was trying to take a toy away and Samuel looked at him and shrieked. That was 'his' toy and he wasn't done playing with it.
He crawls on all fours, something that his brothers never did. He is a fast mover, one minute he'll be in the same room as us and the next he'll be in a room or two away. He loves to eat. He's still eats baby food but we've also started table food which he seems to enjoy more (who wouldn't?). He also loves his bottle. Even when he's just finished eating if he sees his full bottle he smacks his lips and reaches for it. Samuel is fully weened (yippee) and it wasn't as hard as I feared. I just had to force myself up in the middle of the night to make a bottle and he was ok with not nursing. He still sleeps with us, in our bed, but we're hoping to kick him out soon now that his brothers have moved into their own room.
Samuel is a duel thumb sucker. Not at the same time but he sucks each thumb throughout the day. He doesn't seem to have a preference.
Samuel and roar with his brothers. It's funny and annoying that he's learned how to make that sound at such a young age. His brothers adore him. He is well cared for by them, always getting hugs and kisses from them.

We celebrated Matthew and Samuel's birthday together since they're young enough to not care and don't have many friends of their own. While we were getting ready to sing, Matthew was blowing out his candle. While Eric moved to relight it Samuel reached out and with his hand put up his candle. He got wax between his fingers and we not happy about the whole candle, cake, song experience.
Once he calmed down we tried again. I didn't want him to miss out on eating his first cupcake with frosting. He enjoyed it and the burned hand and fingers were forgotten.

Oh, happy birthday Samuel!

And I'm with you on double-birthdays. My brother and I had birthdays two weeks apart, but most of our friends were shared when we were little. I loved our double birthdays.

Isn't it great to have less stress with birthday parties while they are young and "don't care"? All they care about is the cake and balloons. Happy b-day to your boys.
